SUPREME COUNCIL OF REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
RESOLUTION
ON THE ENTRY INTO FORCE OF THE
REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA LAW ON THE OFFICE OF NOTARY
The Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania resolves:
1. To establish that the Republic of Lithuania Law on the
Office of Notary shall enter into force on 1 December 1992. Since
the day this Law enters into force, the Republic of Lithuania Law
on the Office of Notary which was adopted on 26 June 1974 shall
become invalid with the exception of parts 4 and 5 of Article 3
and Article 16, which shall remain valid until 1 March 1993.
To commission the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of
Lithuania to control notarial acts performed by officials.
2. To establish that senior state notaries, deputy notaries
and state notaries who have been working as such prior to the
entry into force of this Law shall continue to exercise the
powers of notary in accordance with this Law.
3. To commission the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of
Lithuania to carry out the following duties by 15 October 1992:
1) to establish the number of notaries, as well as their
principal offices and the territories of the activity;
2) to approve the fees charged by notaries for the
performance of notarial acts and legal and technical services.
4. To commission the Government of the Republic of Lithuania
to settle the issue concerning permits for town and regional
boards to rent premises for notary bureaus which are in the
balance of local governments without competition.
5.To commission the Ministries of Finance and Justice of the
Republic of Lithuania to, within one month, make suggestions
concerning the procedure for declaration of income received by
notaries.
6. To establish that the Ministry of Justice of the Republic
of Lithuania shall call the first meeting of the House of
Notaries within three months from the entry into force of this
Law.
7. To obligate the General Directorate of the Lithuanian
archives under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to
take over the archives of state notary offices.
8. This Resolution shall enter into force from the day of
its adoption.
