REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA                                     
                                                                                
                               LAW                                              
                           CONCERNING                                           
               IMPLEMENTATION OF LAW ON LIBRARIES                               
                  OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA                                  
                                                                                
                                                                                
                                                                                
     Article 1.  Article 15  of  the  Law  on  Libraries  of  the               
Republic of  Lithuania shall  come into effect following approval               
by the  Government of  the Republic of Lithuania of provisions of               
the Cultural Institutions Register.                                             
                                                                                
     Article 2.  To Propose  to the Government of the Republic of               
Lithuania:                                                                      
     1) to  approve the  Provisions of  the Cultural Institutions               
Register, within  a two-month  period following  the coming  into               
effect of this Law;                                                             
     2) to  approve the Alytus, Marijampolė, Tauragė, Telšiai and               
Utena central  municipal library reorganisation into the district               
library program, by December 31, 1995.                                          
                                                                                
     Article 3.  To propose  to the  Ministry of  Culture of  the               
Republic of  Lithuania, to reorganise the Vilnius A. Mickevičius,               
Kaunas, Panevžys G. Petkevičaitės-Bitės, Klaipėda I. Simonaitytės               
and  Šiauliai   P.  Višinskio   public  libraries  into  district               
libraries, by September 1, 1995.                                                
                                                                                
     Article 4. To Instruct Rural and City Municipalities:                      
     1) to  transfer to  the  accounts  of  these  libraries  the               
buildings and  facilities leased  by district  libraries  to  the               
accounts of these libraries by December 31, 1995;                               
     2) to  organise the  rural  and  city  municipality  library               
networks in  accordance with  the  requirements  of  the  Law  on               
Libraries of the Republic of Lithuania, by December 31, 1996.
