PRESIDIUM OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF
THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
RESOLUTION
ON FORMATION OF THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS OFFICE
Taking into consideration the fact that the Supreme Council
of the Republic of Lithuania has repeatedly condemned publicly
the crimes against humanity, that it firmly adheres to the
principles that persons who have committed such crimes must be
prosecuted and must not evade responsibility and also taking into
consideration the wish of certain states to cooperate in the
investigation of such crimes, the Presidium of the Supreme
Council resolves:
1. To commission the Procurator's Office of the Republic of
Lithuania to form a Special Investigations Office whose functions
shall be the investigation of crimes against humanity and
cooperation with the analogous institutions of other states.
2. To recommend the Special Investigations Office formed by
the Procurator's Office to coordinate its work with the
Government of the Republic of Lithuania, with other legal
institutions as well as with the institutions having archives in
their disposition.
3. To authorise the Procurator's Office to maintain contacts
with respective offices of other states, to share with them the
necessary information, and to provide practical assistance to
their representatives in Lithuania.
4. To commission the Government of the Republic of Lithuania
to settle the questions of material supply to the newly formed
Office.
