CONCERNING THE COOPERATION BETWEEN THE BALTIC STATES IN SEEKING
MEMBERSHIP IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
The Baltic Assembly, confirming the intention of the
Republic of Estonia, Republic of Latvia, and Republic of
Lithuania to gradually join the European political and economic
integration structures and being of the opinion that this should
have to become one of the priority trends of foreign policy of
the said States, welcomes the signing of free trade agreements
between the European Union and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
respectively.
The Baltic Assembly, desirous of an accelerated commencement
of negotiations between the European Union and the Baltic States
concerning the Association agreements, hopes these Agreements
will be prepared and signed as soon as possible.
Seeking active cooperation between the Baltic States in the
preparation of these Association Agreements, the Baltic Assembly
recommends that the Governments of the Baltic States, coordinate
the preparation process of said Agreements, as well as commence
consultations concerning the harmonisation of national laws to
the European Union standards.
